Quality Assurance of United Kingdom Higher Education

(ინტერნაციონალიზაცია და მულტიკულტურული პროექტები საგანმანათლებლო სივრცეში)

Introduction and aim: The UK higher education sector is undergoing significant changes. UK higher education is now a mass system with a participation rate of approximately 40 per cent. It contains a number of diverse elements; most noticeably represented by the diversity of the students studying higher education and the universities and institutions providing this education. In addition, other recent policy developments such as changes to student tuition fees have had an impact on the landscape and perception of UK higher education. The importance of a regulatory framework, including quality assurance mechanisms, that can respond to these changes and evolve effectively is essential.

QAA is the UK-wide independent quality body and is internationally recognised for this work. The presentation will present the latest developments and findings in the quality assurance of UK higher education. This will include a focus on the increasing use of data in quality assurance processes, and the importance of developing international links and partnerships to ensure effective quality assurance in a globalised higher education sector.
