External Mechanisms of Quality Assurance in Vocational Education: Challenges and Prospects for Development

Introduction and aim: Sustainable economic development of the country depends on the quality of vocational education. Since 2007 the government of Georgia has made significant legal and institutional changes in the education sector in order to carry out large-scale reforms. The aim was to become closer to the international standards and to increase the attractiveness. Ensuring the sustainability of the results advanced the mechanisms of vocational education. Importance of the issue is also result of association agreement which was concluded between EU and Georgia. One of the recommendations that it applies to vocational education and establishing the framework for European Training.

Challenges of Vocational Education Quality Assurance require necessity of Analysis of the country's external quality assurance mechanisms. They are the basis for authorization / accreditation of foreign Practice Research and they are focused on European countries to share best practices.

The work is dedicated to the discussion of these topics. In particular, it identifies the flaws which are characteristic of authorization / accreditation standards, also recommendations, which are aimed at the elimination of the problems and to define key features of authorization / accreditation standards which provides a quality of vocational education.
