Dual education in Georgia

(პროფესიული საგანმანათლებლო პროგრამების განხორციელება – პრობლემები და პერსპექტივები)

Introduction and aim: Dual Education is the future of VET of Georgia. Work based learning is important for practical skills of students. So there are important issues for implementing work based learning in Georgia.

Research methodology: Businesses that take part in the dual training scheme consider vocational training to be the best form of personnel recruitment. Training companies do not only save on recruitment costs but also avoid the latent risk of hiring the wrong employee for the job. Investments in first-class training are a key factor for success in an increasingly competitive world.

The main benefit for apprentices, in turn, is that they receive market-relevant training that improves their chances on the labor market as it responds to the challenge of constantly updating and upgrading skills due to innovations in the digital age while simultaneously broadening their social and democratic participation.

Results and implications: Important labor market indicator is youth unemployment. The youth unemployment rate is higher than the overall unemployment rate in the country, and the difference is greatest for young people with VET education. This emphasizes that there are obstacles for young people in entering the labor market. One of the main reasons for this is the inflation of qualifications in Georgia. Employers do not have an appropriate attitude towards the qualification of employees for specific jobs, and believe it is better to hire a person with a higher level of educational attainment, regardless of the job type. Furthermore, in most cases job requirements specify that applicants must have work experience, which is hard for first-time entrants to the labor market to acquire.

Conclusion: The human resource element in every company holds a strategic role. Rapid changes in the corporate environment have led to the need of highly skilled workers who are adaptable and have the flexibility to reflect, manage and anticipate change. Company's success depends on the quality of its human resource.
