The Recommendations on Conducting Vocational Training Programs for Professional Personnel for Industrial Sectors by Using Modular Methodology

(პროფესიული საგანმანათლებლო პროგრამების განხორციელება – პრობლემები და პერსპექტივები)


Introduction and aim: Modern approaches to vocational education are progressive and outcome oriented that undoubtedly prejudge the achievement of high quality and high degree knowledge. This system makes heavy demands equally to teaching staff implementing this program and students. The recommendation aims at providing employer with a qualified professional having a theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Hypotheses: Training process based on the modern modular methodologies has its own specificities. These specificities are different by field and sub-field. Thus, the approaches to the implementation of the program must be also implemented specifically. Vocational programs for training of personnel for employment in industrial enterprises, envisage obtaining a theoretical knowledge, in order to enable a specialist to approach to issue creatively. Despite the fact that practical skills are decisive for training of professional personnel, a theoretical knowledge is also important in formation of a fully developed specialist, since the quality of a final product of the industrial enterprises depends directly on precision in its implementation. Thus, high degree professional knowledge and skills imply both theoretical and practical competences.

Research methodology: The abovementioned specific programs include the modular vocational education program "The Specialist in Footwear and Leather Accecoiries", which comprises 15 vocational modules (the total number of credits – 89). Each of them must be completed at a high level in order to conduct effectively teaching process and train a highly qualified specialist. The paper describes the methodological recommendations, proceeding from the specificity of industry.

Results and implications: Since footwear is a peculiar object of a creative activity, a shoe manufacturing specialist is required to uphold high standards of professionalism and sense of responsibility. Among the articles of personal consumption, footwear is one of the most demanded, pretentious regarding comfortability and complex article from the design and technological standpoints. Thus, its production process is also complex and accountable.

Conclusion: Despite the fact that practical skills are decisive for training of professional personnel, a theoretical knowledge is also important in formation of a fully developed specialist, since the quality of a final product of the industrial enterprises depends directly on precision in its implementation. Thus, high degree professional knowledge and skills imply both theoretical and practical competences.
