Comparative analysis of teaching / learning methods and teaching technologies

(სასწავლო პროცესისა და კვლევების ინტეგრაცია)

Introduction and aim: Today we come across a number of new terms and technologies the purpose and significance of which need to be explained both for teachers and students. The aim of the article to show the connection between effective teaching/learning and modern technologies and their use both individually and in a group with colleagues.

Research methodology: Today, there is a question in pedagogy: How do methods differ from technology? On the bases of research methods of observations and comparative analyses, after reviewing a variety of materials, it should be noted that a lot of experts consider methods to be synonymous with technology and vice versa. Is there really a difference between them?

In my opinion, pedagogical technology is a systematic and consistent, pupil/student centered, predesigned educational system realization process, which by practical application of pedagogical and psychological research results, is based on a set of rules, methods, principles, concepts, approaches, tools, skills, resources, teacher’s art, skillfulness and tact and leads to solving certain tasks in accordance with public requirements. While, a teaching method according to Prof. Davit Lortkipanidze is transmission of knowledge and skills from a teacher to a student and the way, method and means this is acquired by the student used by us to achieve our aim. As far as education is the main way of upbringing, so it is natural and understandable that a method of teaching to some extent is also a method of upbringing.

Results and implications: The main difference between the above mentioned categories lies in the quality of processing. For example, the methods can be called a direction of movement, a travel map taken by a performer. While technology is a detailed route which enables to predict speed, distance, approaches, techniques, resources and other important details.

Conclusion: Degree of detalization - In terms of activity, methods are general, while technology is applied.

Content - Technology is a consistency of rules, while methods are the internal content and ideology of these rules.

Result - Using technology, we can calculate (predict) the end of success, but it’s always more difficult to plan the realization of methods.
